چکیده

1550-7998=20 The Lorentz-Dirac equation is not an unavoidable consequence of solely linear and angular momenta conservation for a point charge. It also requires an additional assumption concerning the elementary character of the charge. We here use a less restrictive elementarity assumption for a spinless charge and derive a system of conservation equations that are not properly the equation of motion because, as it contains an extra scalar variable, the future evolution of the charge is not determined. We show that a supplementary constitutive relation can be added so that the motion is determined and free from the troubles that are customary in the Lorentz-Dirac equation, i.e., preacceleration and runaways.

Exact solution of the Landau–Lifshitz equations for a radiating charged particle in the Coulomb potential

We solve exactly the classical non-relativistic Landau–Lifshitz equations of motion for a charged particle moving in a Coulomb potential, including radiation damping. The general solution involves the Painlevè transcendent of type II. It confirms our physical intuition that a negatively charged classical particle will spiral into the nucleus, supporting the validity of the Landau–Lifshitz equat...

As it is known a model of a charged particle with finite size is a good tool to consider the effects of self-action and backreaction, caused by electromagnetic radiation. In this work the " size " of a charged particle is induced by its stochastic Brownian vibration. Appropriate equation of particle's motion with radiation force is derived. It is shown that the solutions of this equation correc...

The Self-force of a Charged Particle in Classical Electrodynamics with a Cut-off

We discuss, in the context of classical electrodynamics with a Lorentz invariant cutoff at short distances, the self-force acting on a point charged particle. It follows that the electromagnetic mass of the point charge occurs in the equation of motion in a form consistent with special relativity. We find that the exact equation of motion does not exhibit runaway solutions or non-causal behavio...

Metastable bound state of two likely charged classic Coulomb particles

When the classical charged particle is scattered on the likely charged target particle, executing the rapid finite motion, a metastable bound state of the incident particle and the target particle may occur. This type of behavior differs dramatically from the Rutherford scattering.

The Classical and Quantum Analysis of a Charged Particle on the Spacetime Produced

We study the classical and quantum motion of a relativistic charged particle on the spacetime produced by a global monopole. The self-potential , which is present in this spacetime, is considered as an external electrostatic potential. We obtain classical orbits and quantum states for a spin-1/2 and spin-0 particles.
